Tranquil seas at last....!
What a difference a day makes!! Headed out with Graham, to fish the early flood on Brighton beach. A couple of pulls, from fish other than bass, and when a long range rod with a squid on it found a whiting it was time to retreat to MarkB. Steve joined us here, and despite seemingly perfect onditions, no takes here. On to Mark C, which can be a great ebb mark, peaking at three hours down the tide. After a couple of hours, and a couple of pulls, Grahams rod started to bounce with a menace that suggested it was going seaward. Graham picked up the rod, and pulled into what was obviously a very good fish indeed. A battle commenced, with Graham having the upper hand. It was going so well that the dropnet was deployed, and I was beginning to wonder which angle to take the photo of my first client double this year, to not blow the mark. And then the line snapped. Heavy gloom descended over all three of us. On inspecting the line, which had the diameter of 25lb line, it became apparent it had persihed, and was snapping at less than 10lb. That was the end of the action (it was bitterly cold) . Grahams first trip the next morning was to the tackle shop. He now has new line........!!
