Ben and proud captor Nick, with 3.5lb bass
This trip was a birthday present for Nick, from his mate Ben, but I must admit that I tried quite hard to persuade them both to postpone, as the fishing was far from consistent the last three trips, bordering on desperate. But they were determined to learn the tactics as much as go home with tea. However, finally the fishing was more consistent, with a few pulls, and Nick firmly attached to the fish pictured. At 3.5lb, this is the first sub 5lb night time fish I have seen this year on rough ground sorties, but I must admit I was probably more pleased to see this fish come up than many others, as it marked the end of a bad run, and I felt myself nearer to the pulse than at any time since I returned from the Czech republic. As the water ran off this mark, I mentioned another mark that fishes pretty good on the ebb. We drove to the mark, but with the dawn happening, and the three of us pretty tired, we called it quits and left the sea, content with a succesful session.
