More Marina Madness......

Settled seas at the marina....... Nice Plaice conditions - No Plaice.....
Back with Nick on the marina for a repeat of the previous days fishing. Fished for plaice with static baits, and float fished baits, with no result. I had one take on the float, which could well have been a flattie, but I messed it up by being to keen and not allowing the fish time to get the bait down. I did manage my first Pollock of the year on the float, which is always nice. Periodically I would cast a line of sabiki's for a herring, but didnt find any until about three o clock. By four I had four, including a decent one. Nick and I decided to have a Herring off, a competitive herring session. From four until darkness, we ended up with exactly eighteen each, after my earlier four had been discounted. Good fun, but not as fast and furious as the previous day, when the overall sizes had been better as well.

Possibly my personal best herring....!
With darkness we spent a little while looking for other things. Nick was determined to capture a rockling to knock off his species list, and got it pretty much straight away.

He also managed a couple of pin whiting, and I picked up a pouting float fishing in darkness. HOwever, the car was in a serious state when we drove down, seizing and needing brutal bump start persuasion to get it going again. When it did, a tappet started to make a sound like a cat being murdered with a blunt spoon, and getting it and the tackle back to the bungalow was weighing on my mind, so we packed up and headed off. A flying stop to drop Nick off by the bus stop, and despite over-heating horrendously the car managed to get me back. It will be its penultimate trip, the next one will take it off to the breakers yard. Shame, as it just picked up another years MOT. Fishymobile R.I.P. Your 192,000 petrol powered miles were not in vain. You will be missed........
