Marina squidding

My first Gar of the year
Woken once again by seagulls, and now geting tormented by my lack of squid, I returned to the short arm at 08:00. A chap already fishing there caught a mackerel soon after I arrived, and I followed it up with a good Garfish. THe gars that are around at the moment are the big females, full of roe and intent on spawning. I like to let these ones go without so much as touching them, as they are the future of the species. I ended up with three of a similar size.

That man again........ and ANOTEHR squid
A suprise call from Steve revealed that his job had gone sour for the day, and he found himself with some unexpected free time on his hands. I invited him down, and then ten minutes later, was wondering about the wisdomn of it as he found himself attached to another squid. Snagged by just one of his longtenticles, Steve steered him towards the waiting drop net, and I lifted his second squid out of the water. Earlier in the morning, I had watched as marina warden Keith lost a nice one, although it could have been a cuttle. Then, two hours later, just as the tide was picking up in strength, I got the bite I have been waiting for. I wound down, into nothing!! Re-casting to intercept the same line, again the float slipped away. This time I felt the power of some very big jets. Just twice I felt their power, before the beast parted company with my jig.......

Spot the sea trout..... Apollogies, as I dont really have the camera for it
Walking off, I spotted the same sea trout I have noticed most of this week. In the inner harbour, amongst the rocks, it has been there most states of the tide, quite close in to the edge. I tried to take photo's of it yesterday, but they were no good. One of the ones I took today you can at least see what it is. I should imagine around 3lb, a really proud and lovely fish to watch.
