River Adur and Southwick beaches

How do they jump on 3/0's??

How do they jump on 3/0's??

I have very little experience of the River Adur, so with the tides dropping ever shorter I thought I would try an ebb tide that coincided with dawn, to see if there might be any silver things for me. Nothing doing though, apart from plenty of knocks from flatties. This one was unlucky enough to succeed in eating a 3/0!!

Southwick

Southwick Bass - 1lb

Surf bass of about 1lb

Whilst fishing the Adur, the wind had been blowing enough to get me thinking about the surf beaches of Southwick. And although I was desperate for some very much needed sleep, the thought wouldn't leave my head. But on arrival, the wind had dropped off a little, and the surf was less than impressive. But I was there, so went through the motions. One bite from a better fish I missed second cast, then I had to wait an hour for a fish of about a lb. A chap came and set up a little down the beach, using fresh out lug, and with the flooding tide he was catching a fish a cast, but all sub 4oz. Plenty of fun though!! That was it for me though. I packed up as the tide made its way up the shingle. The wind was beginning to get serious, but it was too late as the sea had risen too much to beat up the sands, which ultimately brings the fish in to investigate.
