14th November - Shoreham East with Steve

The day had bought with it 100 mph winds along the coast. The anenometer on my roof registered 60mph + several times. So it was only natural that Steve rang me in the evening to enquire if I fancied going fishing.........

To be fair, the winds were mostly sub 30mph when he rang. And when he picked me up, and we got to the end of Shoreham east arm, the winds had actually died away to virtually nothing, with clear star studded skies. The swells were pretty big though, and it took long nosed wired weights to hold in them. But it was most definately fishable. We were only looking for cod, with 6/0 pennels reppelling the odd smaller fish attack. I did have a dogfish to the surface, clinging to the whole squid, but it let go before I could hoist him in. Apart from that, the fishing was slow. Possibly the huge waves earlier in the day were still unsettling for fish to venture too close to shore. But we were still happy to have got out, on a day where not many spots would have been fishable.
