11th -Poking about on the Adur

The beautiful Adur

The beautiful Adur

Met up with Graham, and with bright sunshine and calm winds, we decided to have another look for flounder, this time on the Adur. Popped some reds out to begin with, and Graham told me of a spot his dad used to take him to as a kid. Lots of flounders were the target back then, so it seemed like a reasonable place to start. But after two hours without a bite, we decided that it probably fished better over the top of the tide, and with our limited time, we decided to relocate to the river mouth, to at least get a few bites.

We finally decided on Kingston beach, wich looked strangely attractive in the late winter sunshine. A huge dredging boat was working away, as shown in the picture above. But we cast out anyway, with just an hours fishing in front of us.

Graham had decided to work a flounder spoon, and was rewarded with the first fish of the day, when this schoolie fell foul of his baited spoon.

My first fish of the day

Hmmm.........

The next fish was to my rod, and of a species we dont like to talk about. And the following cast the same.

Then the rockling left, and micro bass came out to play, and keep the rod tips nodding. My first one above, and my last, the biggest, and the last fish of the session, below.
