6th November - Pump n Surf

Size does matter........

Rushing back from Dengemarsh, I was running twenty minutes late, so a quick turnaround of tackle back at mine, and down to the surf beaches with Steve in tow. Very useful as it turned out, as this session with Mark was all about the art of pumping, and Steve had been doing amazingly well on this beach with the large bore Alvey, whereas I am a fan of slimmer pumps, so a demonstration of both pumps in action. Mark actually picked up the technique amazingly well, and within an hour was competently collecting worms, and certainly enough to fish with. Collecting your own bait can make a huge difference to your results, and now Mark has the skills to get good results, and save himself a fair few quid into the bargain!!

We did then fish the Surf, but really it was the non-surf, as Northerly winds had flattened it right down. We still managed a few schoolies, but in the end the thought of sleep was the overpowering influence, and I returned to the bungalow for some well earned rest.
