Ray with pouting

Ray, with rather smaller fish than we have come to expect

Back out with Mike and Ray, this time in pursuit of Smooth-hounds. The tides were booked a while back, as perfect for a good session with the hounds. The wind had been blowing for a couple of days previously however, and was still brisk on the night. This lead to a huge amount of weed heading inshore, horrible fibrous stuff that maks the fishing difficult. Baits masked after five minutes meant a non-stop routine of reeling in, de-weeding and re-casting. And the other problem is the hounds just dont seem to like to swim amongst it. End result, was that, despite a huge effort, Ray did very well to get the pouting pictured!!
