4th November - Surfing with Mark and Alan

MArk and Alan surf fishing at Sunset

Surf fishing at Sunset

Met up with Mark and Alan on the surf beaches of Shoreham. The wind had been pushing hard all day, but in a rare occurence of favourable conditions, the raina dn the wind both died off just before the session began, leaving very pleasant fishing conditions, and a sea with plenty of surf still.

The worm pumping was hard, as it has been for a while now. But with some I had bought along, and a few I managed to extract, it was enough to get through the four hour prime time window at this mark. And talking of Marks, it was Mark who caught the first fish, with this schoolie.

Unfortunately, schoolies were the theme of the session. Fishing with the worm in this way it often is, but the bigger fish will take the freshouts if they come across it. It just wasnt to be on this occasion. The biggest fish of the session was probably the one pictured with Alan above, a little over a pound.

THere was plenty of action though, and the lads enjoyed themselves. Touch ledgering in the surf is often quite a removal from what many anglers are used to. You cant help but get absorbed into the rythms of the sea when your finger is picking up every signal transmitted from it. Very theraputic. Maybe the new Yoga???
