MAY 2005

May is looking to be a good month on the marina, but the May always loks to be a good month. Wether it lives up to it or not, we will see. At the moment, in the first week of May, there are good numbers of Mackerel on the bigger tides, and still a few hrring amongs them. There are some big garfish, though not in the numbers that they appear later in the year. THere has been sea trout jumping and caught. The inner marina is alive with fry and mullett, and there are reasonable numbers of school bass around, but nothing very big heard of so far. So, Lets see what the rest of the month brings. I can see on the reef that a lot of the weed is beginning to die, and we will then get the may weed bloom. It was really quite bad last year, but this year the seas have been a lot calmer so we will see what the end results are. Last year the mayweed turned up early may and left late may. Time will tell. But if the may weed doesnt occur too badly, I have a good feeling for plenty of fish. And with two trips aboard "Moonshine" this month (9th and 30th) hopefully plenty of pictures of outsized tope and smoothounds!!
