Support the throat area carefully to control the beak

A re-run of yesterday, but with less fish and no foxes. Worms untouched from 08:00 to 12:30. The only significant excitement came from me accidentally having a seagull fly into the line as I cast it, lasooing it instantly. Luckily, I was able to retrieve the gull before the weight sunk it, and after five minutes of careful untangling, it flew away, ruffled but safe. These seagull incidents happen more and more often, as modern nylon lines are virtually invisible to a bird travelling at speed. But it is very rare these "lasoo" incidents cause any serious damage as long as the bird is handled carefully on dry land. Do be very aware of the beak, as even in a juvenile as above, its a pretty powerful weapon. Carefully holding the bird around the neck gives you much better control, and once you arent frigtened of it, you can untangle and free it that much more quickly.

Roll on next week, as blanking time after time is very bad for the soul.........................
