10th March - Hunting spotties on Brigthon Marina

Beautiful, apart from the vicious NE wind.....

Beautiful, apart from the vicious NE wind.....

With a glorious sun filled day, and, although strong winds, with them being offshore a pretty clear sea, and Gary with a day off work, we felt we would have a comfortable session seeking spotties on the marina. The tide was a real baby, so the likelihood of finding a spottie was quite remote, but with little else to fish for, Simon, Steve and Graham were also happy for an excuse to be by the sea again. It was a lovely day, but required lots of layers as the NE wind was bitter. Eight rods, all doing it right, accounted for the expected result. Not even a nibble.

With the sunset came the threat of rockling, and Steve, Graham and myself retired before their onslaught. Simon and Gary fished on, and with the darkness they came, numerous rockling accompanied by a few pin whiting and a dab. Standard fare after dark on this patch at the moment. Last year, it was the set of springs coming that bought the first numbers of bass in the area. Lets see what happens. And some more good news, I now have a replacement camera after the tragic demise of my trusty Olympus C-5060. A Fuji finepix s1500. And although a long way off the best of whats out there, I think it will be up to the job of delivering quality shots for the diary. How well it will live up to salt spray and the general abuses I dish out to my cameras, time will tell..........
